Are You Full of the Spirit? - Herbert Cooper
Jesus came so lost people could be saved. This church is not a cruise ship where we lay by the pool. This is a battleship and for 23 years we've been on mission for Jesus. For 23 years we've been worshipping Jesus, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, reaching lost people, baptizing people, helping people know God and grow in God, discover a purpose and make a difference. We've been on the mission of Jesus. For one reason, to see more changed lives. Welcome to People's Church everyone and welcome to all of you joining us online. Hey we invite you to stand to your feet. Come on, will you put your hands together. It's time to praise the Lord. Come on. I praise in the valley. Praise on the mountain. I praise when I'm sure. Praise when I'm doubting. I praise when I'm numbered. Praise when surrounded. Because praise is the water my enemies drown in. Come on. As long as I'm breathing, I've got a reason to praise the Lord, oh my soul. Praise the Lord, oh my soul. I praise when I feel it and I praise when I don't. I praise because I know you're still in control. Because praise is a weapon, oh it's more than a sound. My praise is the shower that brings Jericho down. Yes, as long as I'm breathing, I've got a reason to praise the Lord, oh my soul. Praise the Lord, oh my soul. I won't get quiet if my God is alive. How could I keep it inside? Praise the Lord, oh my soul. Come on, church. Will you put those hands together? Let's lift them up. I praise because you're sovereign. Praise because you reign. Praise because you rose and defeated the grave. I praise because you're faithful. Praise because you're true. Praise because there's nobody greater than you. I praise because you're sovereign. Praise because you reign. Praise because you rose and defeated the grave. I praise because you're faithful. Praise because you're true. Praise because there's nobody greater than you. Praise the Lord, oh my soul. Praise the Lord, oh my soul. Praise the Lord, oh my soul. Praise the Lord, oh my soul. I won't get quiet if my God is alive. How could I keep it inside? I won't get quiet if my God is alive. How could I keep it inside? I won't get quiet if my God is alive. How could I keep it inside?
Praise the Lord, oh my soul. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Come on, give Him praise. Give Him praise. He's worthy of all the praise. Oh, we worship You, Jesus. We need Your presence. We need Your Holy Spirit, God. Oh, we bless Your name, Jesus. Come rest on us. Come rest on us. As the Spirit was moving over the water, Spirit, come move over us. Come rest on us. Come rest on us. So come down, Spirit. When You move, You make my heart pound. When You fill the room, You're here and I know You are moving. I'm here and I know You will fill me. Come down, Spirit. When You move, You make my heart pound. When You fill the room, You're here and I know You are moving. I'm here and I know You will fill me. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on.
Come on. Come on. Come on. Sing fire and wind. Come on. Fire and wind. Come and do it again. Open up the gates. Let heaven on end. Come rest on us. Come rest on us. Fire and wind. Come and do it again. Open up the gates. Let heaven on end. Come rest on us. Come rest on us. Come down, Spirit. When You move, You make my heart pound. When You fill the room, You're here and I know You are moving. I'm here and I know You will fill me. Come down, Spirit. When You move, You make my heart pound. When You fill the room, You're here and I know You are moving. I'm here and I know You will fill me. Yeah. Bless me, Lord. Spirit of the Lord.
Open, Son. Spirit of the Lord. Holy Spirit, come rest on us. You're all we want. You're all we want. Make this your prayer. Holy Spirit, come rest on us. You're all we want. You're all we want. Holy Spirit, come rest on us. You're all we want. You're all we want. Holy Spirit, come rest on us. You're all we want. You're all we want. Hallelujah. I'd like to invite our prayer team to come forward at this time. We are a church that believes in the power of prayer. And if you have a need today, no matter what it is,
it matters to God. So if you'd like prayer, all you have to do is step out of your seat, come forward as we sing this next song. God, I live to worship You. All my life I offer You. Simple melodies of sacrifice. Open hands and open heart. You're the only one I want. Your presence is my treasure, my delight. Fall like rain, Holy Spirit. Fall like rain, Holy Spirit. The Spirit of the Lord is here. Up from the ruins comes restoration. And out of the grave you bring resurrection. Heaven is coming down. This is revival. Your kingdom's taking over. Everything is changing now. Everything is changing now.
The Spirit of the Lord is here. The Spirit of the Lord is here. Miracles are breaking now. The presence is among us now. The Spirit of the Lord is here. The Spirit of the Lord is here. There's freedom here in your presence. There's hope and fullness of joy. There's freedom here in your presence. It's in your presence. It's in your presence. I'm training mourning for dancing. I'm training sorrow for joy. There's freedom here in your presence. It's in your presence. Come on, let's get up. Oh, there's freedom. There's freedom here in your presence. There's hope and fullness of joy. There's freedom here in your presence. It's in your presence. It's in your presence. I'm training mourning for dancing. I'm training sorrow for joy. There's freedom here in your presence. It's in your presence. Oh, we believe it. There's freedom here in your presence. There's hope and fullness of joy. There's freedom here in your presence.
It's in your presence. It's in your presence. I'm training mourning for dancing. I'm training sorrow for joy. There's freedom here in your presence. Yes. Everything is changing now. Oh, it's changing right now. Yes. It's changing for my family. Oh, it's changing for me. Oh. Hallelujah. Oh. The Spirit of the Lord is here. Everything, everything, everything is changing now. Everything is changing now. The Spirit of the Lord is here. The Spirit of the Lord is here. Miracles are raining down. The presence is among us now. The Spirit of the Lord is here. Yeah. Oh, he's here. Yeah, God, we thank you for the promise of your presence. God, we thank you for your presence that's here today. God, I lift up to you every single person joining us online or in person. And God, would you move on our behalf? God, would you do miracles? Father, would you reach those who need you?
Would you give hope, Father, to those who are in a desperate place? Lord, we thank you that you will never leave us nor forsake us. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen. Amen. Come on, let's give him a hand clap of praise. He is worthy. We're a church family. We're a friendly church around here. So before you're seated, let's take a moment to connect with two or three people we don't know. Let's go right now and get a couple people's names. Well, it's so good to see you. My name is Pastor Sean. I'm an associate pastor here at People's Church. And whether you're joining us online or in person, I want you to know we're family. I want to take a moment to give a big warm welcome to all of our first-time guests. Come on. Can we celebrate them? We are so glad that you are here. Well, church family, as you continue to trust God week after week with your giving, you are truly changing lives locally, nationally, and around the world. One of the missionaries and evangelists that you support every single month is Lynn Wheeler and an organization that he helps to lead called The Refuge in Costa Rica. In June, a People's Church team from all of our campuses in Oklahoma and in Indianapolis traveled to Costa Rica on a missions trip. They got to see and experience what we are supporting on a monthly basis. Check out the incredible impact of this trip. Going out and just praying for people on the street, it made me step outside and really trust in God and let the Holy Spirit lead. All different types of people, the language didn't really matter.
So we were still celebrating, and even when you can't, like, talk to somebody, you can still feel God's presence with them and share that with them, too. Through our pregnancy center, we get to meet a lot of women that are just struggling with poverty. A lot of these kids have been abused. They are just looking for love, and we are here being able to share the heart of Jesus and the love of Jesus with these kiddos. And so the fact that you guys are here sharing with them means a lot because they can receive all that love that sometimes not even in their families or in other places they will be receiving. Thank you, People's Church. You guys, you prayed, you sent, you supported us. We saw more changed lives. Yeah, come on, let's thank God for what he's doing in Costa Rica. Well, church family, it always has been, and it always will be the heartbeat of People's Church to see more changed lives. Thank you for giving to meet the physical and spiritual needs of people all around the world. God, we thank you for Lynn Wheeler Ministries and The Refuge who are reaching people far from you. God, I pray that you would continue to use them to reach hurting people in Costa Rica who need you. Thank you, God, for the lives that were changed as a result of our team who traveled there. And Father, we pray that it would just be the beginning of a mighty move of God in Costa Rica. God, we pray that every seed that was planted would bear much fruit in 2026. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, amen. Welcome to our online campus and our Mabel Bassett Correctional Facility location as well. When I think about signs, I just, I'm always intrigued that everywhere you go, there's signs everywhere.
Even right now, there's exit door signs. Signs are everywhere. There's road signs, there's business signs, there's building signs, there's school signs, there's warning label signs, there's airport signs, and I get frustrated when I'm returning a rent car at an airport around the nation and the signage is horrible, so I don't know which way to go. I mean, I like good signage, and signs are everywhere. People even have signs. Sign you're a parent with young children. You know you got a sign when you go to the bathroom and lock the door. door for five minutes and call it a break. You got young children. So sign. Sign you're aging when you read the menu with your phone flashlight. Come on somebody, holla at your pastor, huh? You get a little old, aren't you? Can't see the words, can you? Got that, all right. Sign your family is on a tight budget when the waiter asks, hey, what do y'all want to drink? And one of your kids says Sprite. And you're like, oh, we're getting water. I'm on Sprite. I said, everybody's getting water. Sign, sign, you're on a tight budget, can't get that Sprite. Sign someone is really not on a diet. When the waiter asks, what would you like to eat? And they say, I'll order a salad and a Diet Coke. Could you add some fried chicken, some bacon,
some extra cheese, and some ranch, and a brownie, too? I'm on a diet. You know what I'm saying? No, you don't have no diet because you ordered a salad. Sign, you've been at people's church a long time. During Back to the Movies, when I say, now it's time to go back to the movies. And you know exactly when everybody's going to open up their soda. You've been at church a long time. And just like there are signs that show us what's happening physically, the Bible tells us there are signs that show us what's happening spiritually. And when people are filled, full of the power of the Holy Spirit, we recognize the signs. Ephesians, chapter number 5, it's been a key verse for our teaching, Holy Thirst. Verse 17 and 18 says, therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. Do not be drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit. So Ephesians, chapter 1, four chapters earlier, verse 13 says, immediately at salvation, we're sealed with the Holy Spirit. But then it's very interesting. In Ephesians, chapter 5, verse 18, he says, after salvation, we should be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. God's will is for you to be continually filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
And I want to show you some of the biblical signs of being filled with the Holy Spirit. We need to be continually filled. And when you're continually filled with the Holy Spirit, there will be signs that you're full of the Holy Spirit. Whatever fills you, spills out of you. Write this down, the first sign, filled people overflow with witnessing. One of the clearest signs that you are filled with the Holy Spirit is you have a burden and a boldness to be a witness for Jesus. Acts chapter 1 and verse number 8 says, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. The Holy Spirit does not fill Christians for spiritual entertainment. He fills us for spiritual effectiveness. He fills us to be bold witnesses for Jesus. And you know you are full of the Holy Spirit when you have a burden to live your life as a witness for Jesus. The greatest way that you and I are witnesses for Jesus is by living our life different than the world does. You live different than the people at work. You live different than the people in school. You live different than the people in the community. There's a boldness to live your life to please Jesus. And when you're full of the Holy Spirit, you'll also have a boldness to share Jesus with others.
Filled people share Jesus. Filled people share Jesus. Acts chapter 4, verse 31, after they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. And catch this. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. When you're filled with the Holy Spirit, you have a boldness to share Jesus with those around you. I think about Peter. Before he was filled with the Holy Spirit, he was hiding his faith. He denied Jesus three times. I don't know him. But after he was filled with the Holy Spirit in Acts chapter 2, he immediately began to speak the word of God with boldness. And 3,000 people were saved and water baptized that day. Some of you are hiding your faith. You don't stand boldly for Jesus. You compromise at work, you compromise at school, you compromise in the community, you're trying to fit in with the crowd, fit in with your friends, and what you need is to be filled full of the Holy Spirit because when you get filled full of the Holy Spirit, it will give you a boldness to be a witness for Jesus. Being filled with the Spirit is not just about you having more of God, it's about God having more of you. And when God has more of you, you will overflow with witnessing.
Today, ask God to fill you full of the Holy Spirit. Number two is this, write this down. Fill the people, overflow with joy. When you get full of the Holy Spirit, one of the signs is he gives you a joy that your circumstances cannot steal away. Acts chapter 13, verse 52, and the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. They were filled with a supernatural joy that only comes from the Holy Spirit. These disciples, understand this, during that day, they were going through a very difficult time. They were being persecuted, they were being separated, scattered, and some of them were being martyred for their faith, and yet the scripture says they still had joy. How could they have joy in the midst of severe persecution? Some are losing their very life, how? Because they were filled with the Holy Spirit. Some of you are losing your joy because you're not staying full of the Holy Spirit. And if we were honest today, some of you are facing a bad report from the doctor. You're struggling at your job. Your marriage is on life support. You're struggling with your mental health, and you're wondering, can I really have joy?
And the answer is yes, unequivocally, yes, you can have joy. If you get filled full of the Holy Spirit, you can be filled with joy, not after your trial is over, but in the middle of the trial, you can have joy because the Holy Spirit will give you a supernatural joy in the middle of the storm. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? That it's possible to be disappointed and to still have joy. It's possible to be in financial hardship and to still have joy. Anybody know what I'm talking about? It's possible to suffer physical illness and to still have joy. It's possible to experience relationship heartbreak and to still have joy. It's even possible to grieve the loss of a loved one and still have joy. The key is you must be continually filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Being filled with the Spirit is not just about you having more of God, it's about God having more of you. And when God has more of you, you overflow with joy. Number three, let's look at a third sign. Filled people overflow with worship.
People full of the Holy Spirit are full of worship, praise, and thanks to God. All throughout the book of Acts, the church worshiped, they praised, they thanked God. A worship-filled mouth is evidence of a Spirit-filled life. I love how Paul describes this in our key verse, really the key verse for today in Ephesians chapter five. And he says in verse 18, do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Now catch the next verse. Be filled with the Spirit. And he gives us one of the signs. He says speaking, filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord. Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Paul contrasts drunkenness with being filled with the Holy Spirit. Why would he contrast drunkenness with being filled with the Holy Spirit? Here's why. Because whatever fills your heart controls your life. Come on, you know what I'm talking about. Some of you really know what I'm talking about. Drunk people talk differently. Come on somebody, you know what I'm talking about. Drunk people walk differently.
Drunk people react differently. And spirit-filled people also talk differently. They walk differently. They react differently. And Paul says, talking about spirit-filled people, instead of gossiping, spirit-filled people worship. Instead of tearing people down with their words, spirit-filled people speak psalms and hymns to people. They have the word of the Lord on their mouth. Instead of slandering people, spirit-filled people sing songs from the spirit. Instead of always speaking negativity, spirit-filled people are always giving thanks to God. Some of your mouths are filled with all the wrong things because your heart is full of all the wrong things. And what you need is to be filled full of the power of the Holy Spirit. A worship-filled mouth is evidence of a spirit-filled life. Being filled with the Spirit is not just about having more of God. It's about God having more of you. And when God has more of you, you overflow with worship, praise, and thanksgiving. What's in you spills out of you. Here's a fourth sign that you're full of the Spirit. Filled people overflow with victory. A victorious Christian life flows from a Spirit-filled life. In Acts chapter number nine, this is after Saul had the encounter
on the road of Damascus with Jesus. He was blind. There were like scales on his eyes after that encounter with Jesus. It goes to Ananias' house. In Acts chapter nine, we're gonna pick up reading verse 17. It says, then Ananias went to the house and entered it, placing his hands on Saul. He said, brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here has sent me, catch this, so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes and he could see again. He got up and was water baptized. I love this. Paul was filled with the Holy Spirit and scales fell from his eyes and he could see again. The Holy Spirit causes the scales to fall off our lives. The Holy Spirit will cause the scales of sin, the scales of addiction, the scales of bondage to fall off your lives. Victory over sin happens when you're filled with the power of the Holy Spirit again and again and again. What happens when you get filled with the power of the Holy Spirit again and again and again and again, your flesh gets weaker when your spirit gets stronger.
You start living by the fruit of the Holy Spirit instead of by your flesh. You're now following the spirit and his fruit instead of the fruit of your flesh. I preached two messages this year on May 10th and on May 17th on how to demolish fleshly strongholds. If you missed those messages or you need a refresher, go back to YouTube and watch those messages. They will help you to practically learn how to overcome your flesh. But today, what I have to teach my church family and what I want you to understand is the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has power to set you free. The Holy Spirit has power to make the scales fall off your eyes. The Holy Spirit has power to set you free from the addiction. The Holy Spirit has power to help you live a life of victory. Being filled with the Holy Spirit will help you live in victory and freedom. We sang about it today, 2 Corinthians 3, verse 17. Now the Lord is the spirit and where the spirit of the Lord is, there is, shout that next word with me, there is what? Freedom. Oh, you didn't shout, that's a weak church. Come on, every location, shout.
There is what? Freedom. There is freedom. There's freedom in the presence of the Lord. Hey, church family, here's what I encourage you to do. There's freedom in his presence. So worship your heart out, cry out to God. God, I need you, I'm hungry for you. I need your presence. Praise God with all of your heart. Get into the presence of God. Wait on God. Seek God. Ask God to fill you full of the Holy Spirit because there's freedom and victory in God's presence Being filled with the Spirit is not just about you having more of God It's about God having more of you and when God has more of you you overflow with Victory, let me give you a fifth sign of being full of the Spirit and that is filled people overflow with prayer Another sign of being filled with the Holy Spirit is you overflow with? prayer filled people are praying people think about your own life filled people are Praying people in the book of Acts. We see how the Spirit-filled Church was Constantly praying. Let me just give you a Handful of examples Acts chapter 2 verse 42 The Spirit-filled Church prayed Acts chapter 4 verse 24 the church prayed Acts chapter 6 verse 6 the church Prayed Acts chapter 12 verse 5 through 12 the church prayed Acts chapter 13 verse 2 and 3 the church Prayed Acts chapter 14 verse 23 the church prayed Acts chapter 16 verse 25 the church Prayed Acts chapter 20 verse 36 the church prayed the early church prayed all
Types of prayers matter of fact Ephesians says it like this Ephesians chapter 6 verse 18 and pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all Kinds of people full of the Spirit. They they pray in the Spirit on all occasions all kinds of prayers and requests He says with this in mind be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people Spirit-filled people pray all kinds of prayer They pray the prayer of petition Which is when you present your needs to God. We just present our needs to God They pray the prayer of supplication which is when we recognize how we are Completely dependent on God and we pray with deep humility emotion and fervency Spirit-filled people they pray the prayer of intercession Which is praying for the needs of others that they pray the prayer of thanksgiving Which is giving thanks to God in prayer They pray the prayer of faith Which James talks about in chapter 5 in verse 15 and he talks about how we pray in faith for someone to receive a miracle or a Healing they pray the prayer of agreement, which is found in Matthew chapter 18 verse 19 It talks about how we can join our prayers together around a specific need and watch God meet that need They pray the prayer of tongues, which is praying in a heavenly language Now this prayer is the one so many people get confused about so let me pause Let me just educate and teach you from your scriptures the Bible the Apostle Paul teaches us that we can pray in a heavenly Language a language of the Spirit 1st Corinthians chapter number 8 chapter 14 verse 18 and 19 Paul says these words. I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than
10,000 words in a tongue in this portion of Scripture Paul lets the church at Corinth know he prays in tongues He distinguishes between his personal prayer language that does not need to be interpreted Versus the gift of tongues that needs to be interpreted in the church Paul says privately I pray in tongues all the time But in the church I speak in a language everyone can understand why so the church can benefit and be edified and strengthen Paul teaches us the purpose of the gift of tongues and Interpretation is so the church can be strengthened but the purpose of speaking in tongues individually privately is for the individual to be Strengthened and edified. Let's look at this 1st Corinthians chapter 14 verse number 4 anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves But the one who prophesies edifies the church So when you speak in tongues privately it builds you up spiritually We see other examples of people speaking in tongues without interpretation There's a lot of confusion around this and I like to bring clarity on what the scripture actually teaches because there's a personal prayer language that builds up a person spiritually and then there's the gift of tongues that in a Worship setting that needs to be interpreted so that the church can be edified Let me give you another example of this personal prayer language Acts chapter 19 verse 6 it says when Paul placed his hands on them the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke in tongues and Prophesied Paul placed his hands on them. They were filled with the Holy Spirit. This was not salvation Understand this no one has to lay their hands on you to receive the Holy Spirit at salvation Ephesians 1 13 you're automatically still with the Holy Spirit when you give your life to Jesus, but the Holy Spirit Comes to live inside of us immediately at salvation But you can be filled with the Holy Spirit by someone laying their hands on you and praying For you and the Apostle Paul he laid his hands on these believers and they were filled with the Spirit and scripture says they spoke In tongues, but notice this the tongues were not interpreted Because there's a difference between the gift of tongues that needs to be interpreted so the church can be edified and the personal prayer language that does not need to be interpreted because it's for the Individual to be edified. Let me give you one more example today Acts chapter number 10 verse 45 and 46 the circumcised notice the word Circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out
Even on the Gentiles for they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God These believers were saved and then they were immediately Filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues and catch this it was not interpreted there's a difference between the spiritual gift of tongues for the church body that needs to be Interpreted and the personal prayer language for the individual to be strengthened and built up And during our revival night services on August 2nd through the 5th We will have extended prayer times and if you desire to have a personal prayer language We're gonna pray for you for God to fill you for you to receive your personal prayer language So you can edify yourself and pray in the Spirit I pray in the Spirit just about every single day on my way to church before I got on this page I was praying in the Spirit, but the biggest thing I want you to understand don't miss this The biggest thing I want you to understand is that people full of the Holy Spirit pray all kinds of prayers Filled people are praying people. It's a sign. Do you pray? Do you pray? I feel the people are praying people being filled with the Spirit is not just about You having more of God It's about God having more of you and when God has more of you you pray all Kinds of prayer I'm full of the Spirit and I gotta pray because I got a burden to pray because I'm full of God's Spirit number six Let me give you a sixth sign filled people overflow with the gifts of the Spirit Another sign of being filled with the Holy Spirit is you overflow with the gifts of the Holy Spirit Acts chapter 19 I've read this to you just a moment ago I want to highlight a different word here when Paul placed his hands on them the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke in tongues and prophesied when the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit they spoke in tongues and Prophesied now prophecy is a gift of the Holy Spirit Here's what you need to understand. This is very very important about the spirit filled life
God does not feel you just to bless you. He feels you to use you God does not feel you just to bless you He feels you to use you God gives you more and more of his Holy Spirit and his power Because he wants to use you more and more and more spirit filled people become spiritually useful people You should desire to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit Because you want God to use you to bless people to disciple people to minister to people to encourage people first Corinthians chapter 14 verse 1 says this Follow the way of love and eagerly desire Gifts of the Spirit. I don't have a trick Bible now go read your Bible. I'm reading I'm reading you the scripture eagerly desired gifts of the Spirit especially Prophecy now this verse is it's really rich It's very insightful because Paul was actually correcting the church at Corinth. He was correcting this church That was spiritually gifted but also spiritually immature because you can operate in the gift of the spirit and it had no maturity. The church at Corinth had spiritual gifts, spiritual manifestations, but they also had disorder, pride, chaos, and immaturity in the church. So what Paul does, Paul brings balance and correction. But as he brings balance and correction, I want you to notice that he doesn't tell them to reject the spiritual gifts. He actually rebukes and corrects them, and then he says, I want you to eagerly desire gifts of the spirit. I'm gonna correct you, you're out of order, you got chaos going on, but I also want you to desire
the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Today, I wanna highlight these words of Paul. I want you to eagerly desire to be used in the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that you can bless others, so that you can encourage others. Let me share one list of spiritual gifts found in 1 Corinthians chapter number 12. In verse number eight, it says, to one, there is given through the spirit a message of wisdom. Wisdom is divine insight to a specific and often complex problem or situation, and the Holy Spirit gives you insight. Then knowledge, you see in the verse. Knowledge is the supernatural revelation of facts, information, or deep understanding of God's will that could not be known by natural means. Then there's discerning of spirits. It's one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This is the supernatural ability to recognize whether something is from the Holy Spirit, human nature, or is it from demonic influence, discerning of spirits. Then you see faith. It's a supernatural, Holy Spirit-inspired boldness to trust God for specific, mounting, moving results, the gift of faith. It's a gift of the Holy Spirit. Then there's the gifts of healings.
This is the supernatural gift to pray and to see someone healed from sickness or diseases. And then there's the spiritual gift of working of miracles. This is the supernatural intervention of God's power that alters the ordinary course of nature. You see this throughout scripture, the parting of the Red Sea, the raising of the dead, and other miracles. Then there's the gift of prophecy. This is a supernatural message inspired by the Holy Spirit to strengthen, encourage, and to comfort someone. And then there's the gift of speaking in tongues. This spiritual gift is for the church and needs to be interpreted. It's the spiritual gift of tongues. This is the supernatural ability to speak in a language the speaker has never learned. And then there's the interpretive. This is a separate gift. It's the interpretation of tongues. This is the supernatural ability to understand and to translate a message spoken in tongues into the language of the hearers. Okay, church, I want you to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit and desire for God to use you in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. God wants to fill you so he can use you. Please hear your pastor's heart. God wants to use you at your workplace. Do you realize you're gonna be used
by the gifts of the Holy Spirit right there in your workplace? Don't have to be weird. That's just, since you're going through, the Holy Spirit's leading you, just giving you a word of knowledge for somebody. You're going through something with one of your children. I just wanna pray for you. You have something like that happen, they just start crying, how'd you know? Just, can I pray for you? God says, God wants to use you at your work. Wants to use you at your school. He wants to use you at your small group. He wants to use you at the ball game. He wants to use you in the community. He wants to use you at church, on the dream team. God wants to use you to minister healing, encouragement, wisdom, faith, and direction to people. He wants to use you to pour Jesus into our kids and into our teenagers. Listen to me, church, spiritual gifts are not for spotlight, they're for service. God wants to fill you because God wants to use you. This is not about spiritual entertainment. God wants to fill you because God wants to use you. God wants to fill you because God wants to use you. Being filled with the Spirit is not just about you having more of God, it's about God having more of you.
And when God has more of you, you overflow with the gifts of the Spirit. You wanna be used to be a blessing and to serve others. Question today, are you full of the Holy Spirit? Do you see the signs in your life? Do you see them? Think about it. Are you full of the Spirit? Do you see witnessing? Are you a bold witness for Jesus? Do you have joy even in the middle of the trials? Are you full of the Spirit? Do you have worship and praise and thanksgiving on your lips? Are you full of the Spirit? Think about it. Are you a worshipper? Do you worship God in the car, at home, at church? Are you a worshipper? Do you live in victory? Do you walk in victory? Are you getting more free from sin? Finding yourself experiencing more victory over addiction and bondage? Are you experiencing victory? Are you praying all kinds of prayers? Do you have a burden to pray? It's a sign of being Spirit-filled. You pray all kinds of prayer. Are you being used in spiritual gifts to bless others and serve others? Do you serve others? Do you serve at church? Serve in the community? Do you use gifts to serve and to bless people? I'm filled up to be used by God and what we need is Holy Spirit. Would you fill me with more? Would you fall like rain? Would you fill me with more of your Spirit so that I can be used? I want the signs to flow through me. I want to be used. Come on, would you stand with me in every single location? Come on, would you do that? If you're comfortable right now, would you maybe just lift a hand up to heaven right now? Come on, Midwest City, Northwest, Edmond, Indianapolis, online. Throw a hand up and say, God, fill me. Fall like rain. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Come on, would you ask Him to do that right now? Holy Spirit, fall like rain. Holy Spirit, have your way. Let your glory fall down. Let your glory fall down. Fall like rain. Come on, somebody call out to Jesus today. Come on, fall like rain in my life, Lord. Fall like rain, Jesus. Fall like rain. Holy Spirit, have your way. Let your glory fall down. Let your glory fall down. Fall like rain. Holy Spirit, fall like rain. Holy Spirit, have your way. Let your glory fall down. Let your glory fall down. Come on, somebody say, fill the room. Fill the room. Fill this temple. Fill this temple today, Lord. Fill me full, Lord. Come on, call out, Midwest City, Northwest, Edmond, call out.
Fill the room, Indianapolis. Fill the room, online. Fill the room, Lord. Fill the room. Fill the room. Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit. Fill the room. Fill the room. Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit. Fill the room. Fill the room. Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit. Lord, I pray for my church family at every single location. We're hungry for you. We're thirsty for you. There's a holy thirst that's rising in our hearts, Lord. We need more of your Holy Spirit, less of us and more of you. Lord, would you fill people with full of the Holy Spirit right now? We want you to use us, Lord, but we need more of you. We want your power, but we need more of you. Lord, we want to be used in our workplace, in the community, but we need more of you. We want to be used with our children, but we need more of you. Lord, would you fill us right now full of the Holy Spirit? And I thank you right now for filling the room and for using us to be a witness for you. In Jesus' name I pray as eyes are still closed and heads are still bowed just right there where you're standing. I'm talking to some people that you've never given Jesus Christ your life. You've never been Ephesians 1.13. You've never been sealed with the Spirit. You've never been sealed and you can't live in victory without the Holy Spirit's help. So you find yourself in sin and in bondage. The devil is just whooping you and wearing you out, and you need the Holy Spirit, and not only does the Holy Spirit seal you to give you victory on earth, but you get sealed with the Holy Spirit. It's a deposit to what's to come, and that's eternity in the presence of the Lord, and you can secure your place in heaven. I'm also talking to some people that don't know Jesus, that you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, but you've drifted back into the world. Your flesh is running your life, and what you need is to rededicate your life to the Lord, and come back home today, and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you full, and repent of your sins, and get right with God. If that's you today, you want to give Jesus your heart for the very first time, to be sealed with the Spirit, or today you want to recommit your life to the Lord today, and want to start walking in victory by repenting and asking Jesus to be Lord of your life again today. If that's you, as I count to three, would you slip your hand high in the air? I know there's several today. You need to make that commitment. Make them Lord today. One, two, three. Just lift your hand high and say, Pastor, that's me today. See your hand there. Come on, Midwest City, Northwest, just lift it high. That's it. See your hand there. Others today. See your hand there. Others today. Just lift it high. See your hand there. Others today. Come on, Northwest, Edmond, just lift it
high. Come on, Midwest City, lift it high. Online, just click the raise your hand button or write, that's me, Indianapolis. Let us know right now. I'm giving my life to Jesus. I'm saying, I'm coming home today. I'm going to ask every hand that's raised to pray this prayer with me. Confess it with your mouth. Believe it in your heart. God's going to wash away your sins. Pray with me now. Heavenly Father, I turn from my sin and I turn my life to Jesus, the Son of God, who died and rose again. I confess that Jesus is my Lord and my Savior, and I will live for Jesus the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen and amen. Come on and give God some praise. Come on, give God some praise. Give him some praise. Give him some praise. Adelaide, you can be seated for just another one or two minutes. We're going to close. Come on, somebody, one more time, every location, give him some praise one more time. I turn it to all the campuses. Amen, amen. If you're a first-time guest, you're looking for a church home, I just want you to know you're among some of the nicest and kindest people in all of Oklahoma. In fact, if you would give us a year of your life, plug into what God's doing here. Come to church faithfully. Go to growth track. Get connected to a small group. Join the dream team and just watch how God changes your life. If you would, church family, stand up with me all across this room. We say it every week. We're family. Shout it with me on three. One, two, three. We're family. See you next week.
