There's a place for you to worship, learn, serve, grow, and become everything God has called you to be. Thank you for joining us at House of Rest Church Modesto. We are a Grace International Church, part of a global family of more than 5,000 churches worldwide. Welcome home. Good to see you on this Sunday. God bless you. Welcome to House of Rest Church. Before we're a church, we are a family. You know, and it's just a blessing. I mean, I get so blessed to see the baptisms, to be honest with you. It is like being in a hospital and you hear the baby cry for the first time when it's born. It's an exciting time. And man, you know, it's just I never get tired of water baptisms. It's a beautiful thing. One thing I want to remind you of, not too many announcements, one of them is the pin holder meeting we have coming up November 21st. And anybody, if the six classes, the six discipleship classes, you get a pin and you get a certificate. And so another thing is that this week I'm going to finish, but I add you to a text that I send. And there's a few names I got to add newer people. So you should be getting a text from me. And that'll maybe give some more details about the pin holder meeting November 21st. It's going to be 11 in the morning to 2 p.m. It's a three hour event. We're going to have a special guest speaker, which is going to be our Grace International Vice President Larry. He's coming to speak and encourage those who are pin holders. We are not holding any more discipleship classes until next year until January of 2027. But if you want to attend this meeting, we made a way for you to attend if you don't have your pin yet or if you still have classes to make up. With that is we have a night accelerated discipleship. It's six classes in two nights. You're going to knock them out. It's Thursday, November 5th and Friday, November 6th, which is this this Thursday and this Friday, correct? Yes. If you are missing a class and don't know which one, talk to Sharon doesn't mean you got to sit through all six. That's why we broke them up in times. And we're going to be adding that to the website actually today so you can go to the website and see that. We want you to be at that meeting. If you if you did five classes and you're missing one, we want you to make up that one because we want you to be in that meeting. It's going to be awesome. It's going to be our first annual and it's going to be something really, really special. You know, so make sure you do that. Before we go into the meet and greet, I wanted to share one scripture really quick and I feel compelled to share it.
If Sharon can come up here real quick. In first Samuel chapter three and I say this because there's a lot of silliness going around in churches right now. There's a pastor that actually publicly said that he has two wives. You saw that? So, I think that as pastors we need to confront it and not stay quiet. First Timothy chapter three, verse two, therefore an overseer or a pastor or a leader must be above reproach, meaning above blame. The husband of one wife. The husband of one wife. So reminded, self-controlled, respectable, hospital, hospitable and able to teach. So I just want to just say that because I think that it's just silliness is happening, you know, and I just want to proclaim that to the entire world, that as the church continues to go and go and the end times is coming, that we have to proclaim these things boldly. That's it. All right. (audience applauds) And last is this, is that, guys, this Tuesday, if you don't like the way things are in California, you won't have an excuse if you don't vote. It's very important. I'm not gonna say vote left. I'm gonna say vote right. I'm gonna say vote biblically. That is the most important thing, follow. And if you don't know, and if you've never voted
or you don't know, come and talk to us. Come and talk to me after service and I will gladly share with you what direction is biblical, you know? And so that's really, really important. And that's this Tuesday, because we can't complain about the things of our state if we don't vote. And that's really important. You know, there's many people in other nations that can't vote. That's a privilege that we have and a right that we have as Americans. Let's take advantage of that right that we have. You know, so with that being said, we got about 30 seconds to meet and greet each other. They see somebody who don't know. Slap 'em and tell 'em that you're glad they're here. God bless you. (audience applauds) (dramatic music) (indistinct chattering) (dramatic music) (indistinct chattering) (dramatic music) (indistinct chattering) (dramatic music) (indistinct chattering) - Amen. Those that are watching online. God bless you. Those that are watching through their screens.
We're so glad that you're here with us. We appreciate all of you, whether you're watching this live or watching this as prerecorded later on. Thank you so much. Those that are watching this live, make your voice heard on Tuesday. (dramatic music) All right, good morning. Good morning, good morning, everyone. Amen. It doesn't take that long to slap somebody and sit back down. (audience laughs) (laughs) Amen. (laughs) Yeah. Hey, I grew up watching three stitches, so they're always slapping each other. Right? Amen. You know the way the world is, we need some more three stitches in this world. (audience laughs) Some eye poking and slaps. (audience laughs) Oh, the nose and then the, now we know what I'm gonna watch later. (audience laughs)
Amen. I never get tired of three stitches. My mom can stand it when we would sit there with my dad and watch those over and over and over and just crack up when I was growing up. Amen. I also wanted to let you guys know that when we went to Arizona, I went to finish a book and it was called Eight Life Lessons. I learned in solitary confinement and it was a book that I'd been wanting to write for a lot of years but could never get myself to write it because it just dug too deep. But it's now available. I just wanna share with you. It's Eight Life Lessons I learned. I'm gonna be getting a box here soon, but for those, it's an ebook and you can get it on Amazon. I put my heart and soul into this. I purposely didn't want it to be a really long read. I wanted to get right into the Eight Life Lessons. But if you're a reader and I think that this will bless you, this is not for people only who are incarcerated. The whole thing was their life lessons, things that I learned that we can apply in our lives today. If you've gone through struggle, gone through trauma, that maybe maybe by the hardship that I did to learn these life lessons maybe it's something you don't have to go through the hard way and just learn it in a book. So I just wanted to share that also here at House of Rest we support missions. Missions is there's so many different ministries within Grace International across this globe but the three that we support are the three you see
here. Pastor George in India, Pastor Thomas in Nigeria and Pastor Moses in Uganda and I want you to keep Nigerian prayer for as we know we've been mentioning before there's Christians killed there all the time. I believe at one time 83% of Christians around the world that are murdered are in Nigeria. Pastor Thomas is somebody very special to us very special to me. I remember asking him what's going on over there and he says there's Muslim Islamist Muslim extremist that would just love the massacre every Christian believer in that nation and he says but I don't worry about it they're far away from the other side of the country. I said how far is the other side of the country? He says like 120 miles away. That's like from here to Fresno and I said and you continue to preach he says what else is there to do but to share the gospel and he says you know what and the more the more Christians they kill the more they rise up and I said wow and we think we adversity here we think we have trouble here coming to church getting to church and I said and what happens on Sunday he goes the churches fill up because they can't hear more of Jesus they want to more they want more they want more you know and he says in America he goes you guys do your services in 90 minutes he goes we stay all day ministry you know and so when you give your three dollars for missions those three dollars get split one of your dollars is going toward Nigeria and you know we give it we we add these up and give them quarterly we separate your three dollars so when you give tithing or offering make sure you allocate your three dollars that is so important to us the administration they make sure they separate that even if it's in your envelope if you give 20 dollars and say separate my three they will separate those three for those that's so important I believe God has blessed this church because we give to missions you know they are furthering the gospel in ways that maybe we will never imagine you know and also the offering and the tithing I want to thank you all of you that can just continue to rise up and do your part you know we're going to continue to be a beacon of light in the city of Modesto as long as we all do our part it doesn't take a whole lot it really doesn't I don't believe in having a church that has you know five different five different many sermons to to get you to give I don't I don't agree with that I think the time and service should be to preach the gospel and worship God you know but at this time in this moment will we do pick up offering to do pick up a tithe it is a form of worship it is a form of laying down to the Lord because many of us sometimes inadvertently worship money worship careers worship our jobs or worship those things but honestly it's God that we worship and people say how do you transfer that into giving what does that
have to do with anything because to further the kingdom God understands God understands that in order for us to reach the world you know internet electricity all the things the classrooms it's not free and the Lord knew that in the Institute of that and this goes all the way back to scripture you know so let's do our part let's let's let's let's if that's the weakest link of of your Christian life you read your Bible you pray you worship you do all these things well if that part of your life is less than everything else let's get it even you know so let's bow our heads Lord God we thank you so much for this opportunity Lord first of all we pray for Nigeria we pray for all the Christian believers there Lord God we pray that you give visions and dreams to the extremist Lord because that's what they are they're extremist they're following a false doctrine and a false teaching and because of that they're coming against your bribe Lord and we just pray for that nation we pray for for for all Christians around the world we pray for the churches in Modesto and the surrounding areas we pray for the state we pray Lord God for what's going to happen on Tuesday Lord God, there is 55% of self-proclaimed Christians in rise up. Lord I pray for the offering for the tithing. Let it be multiplied. Let us continue to be a beacon of light. Lord God, let us continue to be here and reach our families, our children, our young adults and our youth. We thank you Lord. In Jesus name, amen. Amen. We have ushers that have the envelope if you need one or you can have QR codes and back of the seat or you can bring it yourself to the little mailbox right there. God bless you. I have discussed only you can satisfy. My heart it grows within all concerning fire. I search and see but you're never hard to find. The more of you I see, the more that I desire. I live more than the air that I breathe, capture my heart and repeat. The only me will serve. There is no one else. There is nothing but your love. Every taste I've made. Jesus I can't get enough. Over and over. Over and over. Thank you, Jesus. (Applause) Lord, we thank You on this Sunday morning. We give You all honor and all glory. Lord, I thank You for every person that's attending here, those that are watching through their screens, and those that are watched as later as it's recorded. Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus for the hearts and minds that we have our hearts open and our minds open to receive Your Word. We come against anything that is not of God in the name of Jesus. Anything that we rebuke it in the mighty name of Jesus, we send warring angels to surround this place. Lord, we thank You so much for Your presence, Lord. And we pray for this Word that's about to be preached, Lord God, that it be delivered, Lord God, in a way that it was delivered to me.
We thank You in Jesus' name, amen. Let's give the Lord a hand. Amen. Who has their Bible? (Laughter) If you have a Bible, lift up your Bible. We do this declaration that's important. It's something that it's, I believe it's important because it's a reminder to us that we be a church that carries their Bible, that we bring our Bibles and we read our Bibles, so you ready? All right. This is my Bible. It is God's Word to me. My guide and my strength. I bring it ready to learn. I open it with faith in Jesus. I live it with courage. Without it, I grow weak. With it, I grow strong. I bring it, believe it, and obey it. In Jesus' name, amen. If somebody didn't lift it up, tell them, "Bring your Bible next week." All right. Amen. It's good to see everybody today. God bless you. Today's message is titled, "Get up. You're not finished." I'm a true believer that God is strategic, that you are here because he wants you to be here, because whether you're here every single Sunday or every once in a while,
or this is your first Sunday, God is strategic that he needed you to hear this message today. And I'm really excited about it because, you know, I didn't want to preach this week in the beginning of the week. I didn't. Monday, I'm just like, "Okay." I'm like, "Lord, what am I preaching?" I was just blank. By Tuesday, I was just like, "Yeah, I don't want to preach." And Wednesday morning, I'm like, "I still don't want to preach." Yeah, I felt very discouraged because of what I see. When I see Christianity, what's happening across this nation is very discouraging. And then by Wednesday night, the Lord said, "All right, quit crying. Get up." I got some for you to say. And so here we are with Get Up. You're not finished, and I think he was talking to me first. If we can go to the book of Micah, it's going to be hard for you to find. It's a small book toward the end of the Old Testament. I'll give you an extra minute because it's not an easy one to find. It's toward the end of the Old Testament. If you see names like Amos and Obadiah, Nahum, Habakkuk, those little books, then you're getting close. A lot of those prophets you never hear of. And we're going to start out in Micah. And we're probably going to stay there so you can just leave your Bibles on that page once you do find it. It's hard to find, I don't blame you. It's a short one. The whole book of Micah is only seven chapters. Who has it? Okay, let's get in there. Micah chapter 7 verse 8.
And we're going to probably most likely stay there. Micah 7, there is no Micah 8. Micah chapter 7 verse 8. And it's going to be worth looking for because we're going to stay there in the book of Micah for most of the message today. So put your bookmark there or don't lose it because it's going to be hard to find again. Okay, in Micah chapter 7 verse 8. The prophet Micah we're going to talk about a little bit about him and who he is, but first we're going to read the Scripture. And he says, "Rejoice not over me, O my enemy." So he's talking to the enemy. "Rejoice not over me, O my enemy, when I fall, I shall rise, and when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me." And we're going to learn a little bit more about Micah and we're going to come back to that Scripture but we can tell right away that he's speaking to his enemy. He's speaking to the enemy and he's saying, "I don't know why you're laughing. I don't know why you're all happy because I fell because I'm getting back up." "I'm getting back up and if I sit in darkness, that's all good because the Lord is going to be a light to me." So a lot of times we have to tell the enemy that you might be laughing right now because I've fallen but don't rejoice because I'm getting back up. And so I want to direct this message toward three different people and maybe you fit one of these three here today so I just want to let you know right away. One of them, this sermon is for the nonbeliever, you're coming in here, you're not even a Christian at all, you just came to check it out, you're seeing things, you're not sure. Maybe for whatever reason, maybe because of the same things I see in the Westernized church, it looks like a bunch of hypocrites and all kinds of fake stuff going on. So you're just like, "Man, I don't know what I'm doing here. This message is for you because maybe, just maybe you feel like your life has already been written in stone and nothing can change your situation." You don't believe in Jesus but you've found yourself sitting here or watching on a Sunday morning and you're like, "What's the purpose? My life has already been determined. This is what it is. This is all life is going to be and I'm just going to die and nothing's going to change." Well, I want to tell you to get up, you're not finished. The second person I'm writing this, giving this message to is for the believer who is discouraged. You believe in Jesus, you believe in the Lord but you have been discouraged and matter of fact, you've reached a point where you don't even want to serve the Lord anymore. It just doesn't even make sense anymore. You're discouraged. Well, I want to tell you to get up. You're not finished. And to the third person is for the believer who you have faith, you have faith, you're pushing through but you have failed due to maybe your health, maybe something a doctor said, maybe something you're feeling, maybe your finances. Maybe your children, maybe your marriage or tragedy. So to you, I want to say get up. You're not finished. To the non-believer, to the discouraged believer, and to the fallen believer that just doesn't know. You know, the prophet Mike is interesting because my gosh it's a powerful book and he was called the poor man's prophet by scholars and and and he came at a time when Israel the glory days of Israel were gone he wasn't born in a time when the nation of Israel was doing amazing when King David or when Solomon he came at a time where the nation was divided and broken down the
nation was no longer powerful and sometimes you know it's crazy because I feel I hear young people have said man you know mean I I'm alive at a time where everybody talks like everything was great back in the day and it ain't so great and they feel like they were born in a time of turmoil in a time of this nation falling apart and they're just like man they hear the stories of their parents and and grandparents of how things used to be and so that was Mike he came at a time where the nation was divided the northern kingdom and the southern kingdom of Israel they were against each other they were at odds against each other and not only that it was more susceptible and more easier for enemies to come and attack them because they were divided nation do you realize that the enemy loves it denied a divided United States if we were divided then it's so much easier for those outside to come in infiltrate and not only that not only was a nation divided into two the people have forgotten about God these are the people that had the law and had Moses and Abraham Isaac and Jacob they had all the prophets but yet at this time of Micah people have forgotten already and to make it even worse at that time people who who were kings and people who were of royalty and people who were in politics they were so greedy that they were taking from the people it was almost as if you know the the nations destroyed so I might as well live it up and get as much as I can from the people this is a time where Micah was was living in a broken nation he looked at the at the nations leaders and they were all corrupt so then he went to see the religious leaders and they were just as corrupt too and there was nowhere to turn the religious leaders were robbing people robbing them of their tithe robbing them of everything so it's like the nations divided the the politicians are doing them dirty the people in the temple were doing them dirty and there was nowhere and the people themselves were not seeking the Lord and Israel was lost and and and it's interesting because the Bible says that Micah was from a town called Morisheth and I looked up what that meant what what did that mean because every time you see some in scripture it's important to find out what it means when it says a name or a town or city make it a habit to look up
what it means because everything in the Bible is there for a reason and the town he was from literally means a possession or an inheritance something that belongs to you it's something if you inherited something if you if you had possession of something then then you had value to you and it's interesting that he came from a place where the politicians and the religious were taking people's inheritance they were taking away from the people and I just find that very interesting because at that time it felt like the poor were getting more poor and the rich were getting more rich and the corrupt were getting more corrupt you know and it's just I can't help but see the parallels I can't help to think was Micah in Israel was a Micah here in 2026 you know and it just makes you think that that what was going on what was happening because it seemed like there was no more inheritance there was no more possession and it made me think like what was it like for a family to be alive at that time an ordinary family imagine a man and his wife and his children and he would tell his children man our nation used to be so great and and we had a king named King David and and he he killed the giant Goliath and he made the Philistines run and Solomon Solomon was so wise that people from other nations would come just to sit at the feet of Solomon and the kids are like there's no way no Israel was never a great nation now I'm telling you I'm telling you that it was it was church and see corruption, they go to the leaders and see corruption, and then the people didn't even know the word, and it was utterly lost, and there was nowhere for them to go. You know, the people who were supposed to protect you were the very ones exploiting you. That's what it felt like at that time, and the people who were supposed to teach you the Word of God were corrupt. You know, I get so many emails, so many messages, so many private messages from people saying, "Man, I hear you, I watch your messages, and I went to look for a church, and I went to find a place, and I can't find a place." And I'm just like, "No, you got to find a place, I'm glad you watch us, praise God, I'm glad you do, but you need to be in the body, you need to be somewhere, because you have gifts that some other people need. You need to find a place of worship, and so many people in frustration are saying, "But I can't find anywhere." And I imagine what it was like for the people of that time, and they're like, "Well,
how am I supposed to read the Word when I don't see God here? I go to the man of God, and he wants to take from me, and I go to the politician, and he wants to take from me." This was the time of Micah. What were they supposed to do? And so the book of Micah speaks to a society where people were just losing hope, because those in authority had lost all accountability, and they lived in unrighteousness, and you just feel lost. You feel like, "Where do I turn? What do I do? I don't know what to do." And it's not that hard of a stretch to imagine this family, because it feels like America today. Usually sometimes I'll take you into a story, and you're just like, "Man, I can't imagine that." I think everybody can imagine this, because we're living in this. You know, so to the non-believer, I want to say this, if you are here, or listening, or watching, and you are not a Christian, let me say something to you that this sermon is for you, and just maybe you feel like, like I said earlier, your life is already written, and this is all there is. You know, I was skimming Netflix the other day, and I came across Scarface, Al Pacino. Yeah, some of you, you know, you guys are real holy, probably don't know what that movie is. But I remember watching it as a young man not living for Christ, and I glorified that movie. And we were just kind of skimming through it, and sharing is like, "What are you watching? You heard a bunch of gunshots? What are you watching?" You know, and I just turned it down, and I look to Sharon because I realized the character was lost. Like, he's in this big old bathtub, and he makes his wife angry, he makes his best friend angry, and he just goes into this whole tirade of who built this me. That's who, and he has all these riches and all these money and all these things, and he's concerned about his cameras because he can't sleep at night. And it's like, it's like, that's how the world is. It's no matter what you get, no matter what you gain, there's an emptiness there because without Christ, you're never going to have peace, without Christ, you're never going, it's like, it's like, what am I living for? So to the non-believer, this is what I'm telling you is that who told you that your life could never change? Who told you that that's all life is? That's not all life is, and maybe you're thinking, you're sitting here, and you're just like, "Well, you don't know my family history, man, and you don't know my failures, or my addictions, or my incarcerations, or the past choices that you don't know the things I've gone through." You're right. I don't know what you've gone through,
but I know who does. See, there's nothing under the sun that Jesus doesn't know about you. A matter of fact, before your mom and dad knew your name, he knew your name. And he already knew when he loved you so much that he died for you 2,000 years ago, he already paid the cost for you. And the whole time we're living in this life, so he knows everything you've gone through. He understands everything. He understands betrayal. He understands being hurt. He understands pain. So who says that this is your life until you die? Who says that? Who says you can't be redeemed? Who says? And we get stuck in this thing because I remember myself, I'm just like, well, if I give my life to the Lord, it's not going to change my situation. It's not going to change what's happened. It's not going to change, you know, and it's not about erasing your past. It's not about erasing those things. As a matter of fact, it's those things that God will turn what Satan meant for evil and God will turn it for good because now everything bad happens to you. It's not about erasing your past, it's about using your past and repurposing it. You know, repurpose is when you get repurposed wood. When you walk into the sanctuary, there's a big wooden cross right above the double doors. That was from a 100-year-old barn that a carpenter gifted to us. And he says, listen, this is really special and I want to give it to you. And I'm like, wow, that's beautiful. He's no, you don't understand. It's beautiful. He goes, but this came from a 100-year-old barn and he made it for us. He repurposed something that was old.
Yeah, it was a lot. And actually, this was from pallets that a brother, we didn't have any wood and a brother says, well, I work at a pallet yard and they make pallets and there's pieces of wood that aren't big enough for the pallets, so they just toss it. And he says, hey, are you going to throw that away? And they're like, yeah, he goes, can I take it to my church? You know? And look at that. All this wood. It's repurposed. So maybe the barn thought it would only be a barn, but God had another purpose for that. And the same thing with you. So yes, your past is real, but it doesn't define your future. Let me say that again. Your past is real. I'm not taking nothing away from it, but it does not define your future. So what do I have to say to the non-believer that's here is repent. Repent. Do a 180. Turn your life around. Call on the name of Jesus. Become a new creation. The Bible says that you are a new creation in Christ. Old things have passed away and all things will become new. All you got to do is repent. The Bible says, confess it to your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you shall be saved. So don't ever let the enemy make you think that this is it and there's nothing else, because there is something else. There is another chapter.
There is a change. There is a change of direction, and you can turn it around. Don't ever let the enemy make you think that the choices because of the choices you made determines how you end. Sometimes it's not the way you start, it's the way you end it. To the discouraged believer, this sermon is for you also, like I said earlier, because if you're discouraged and have reached a point where you just don't even want to serve the Lord anymore, just too much has happened, too many things have transpired and you just like, you're just tired and you're just like, man, I can't do this anymore. I'm just coming to church because I'm so ingrained to come into church on Sunday, but I don't feel it anymore. It's just, it's just, those are my friends are there. But other than that, I don't even, I don't even pray anymore. I don't even read scripture anymore. I'm just, I feel like there's nothing but hypocrites. And you know what, maybe there is, but what if you set the example? What if there is a bunch of hypocrites and instead of being one, say, I'm going to change the thing and I'm going to change it around and change my whole life around and instead of just complaining and complain, complain, complain, complain, well, I'm going to step up and be an example. See, a lot of times as Christians, we want to judge ourselves with other Christians. Don't worry about other Christians, worry about God in heaven. Compare yourself to the Lord. Take your eyes off of man. Man's always going to fail you every single time. Every single time we keep our eyes on God. You know a marriage, a marriage is two imperfect people worshiping a perfect God. You know what a church is? A bunch of imperfect people. You know what the problem is, is they're not perfect in the way you want them to be.
Thank you. we always gauge other people, not by our own standards how we live. We wanna gauge people how we think they should be. But we can't be discouraged. You know, and sometimes I get it. It feels like, man, nobody cares. Nobody cares and it doesn't even matter anymore. No, here's the thing that people do care. And if nobody does care, there is one that cares. That's the ultimate thing. That's what we're talking about. There is one that cares. You know, so we can't stop. We can't put the brakes, we can't do that. We gotta beat the example. And the thing is that sometimes it feels like nothing's happening. Well, Pastor David, you don't know because I came to get my life to the Lord and you can't sit here and tell me why I'm feeling discouraged because ain't nothing happening. Well, maybe so. But one day, talk to my mom. When she presented me to the Lord, I was eight years old. She would tell me I was gonna preach the gospel someday during and had to see me get into gangs and get into stuff, carrying a gun, get into all kinds of stuff throughout my teen years and throughout my 20s. What if she had given up?
I don't see nothing happening, God. And then my other brother getting addicted to drugs, my older brother, oh ain't nothing happening. I'm going to church every single Sunday and my son's on drugs, going to church every Sunday. My other son's in prison, going to church every Sunday. My other son's doing this. My other son's doing that and there's nothing happening. See, here's the thing is that many times, guys, when it looks like nothing's happening, that's exactly when God is moving. - Hello. - Do not be discouraged. Pick your head up because God has not done yet. He's not finished yet and because he's not finished yet, neither are you. Yes, okay, you believe in Jesus, you still love God, but you're exhausted, you're disappointed and perhaps wondering why things haven't changed. You know in Galatians 6, 9, it says this. It says, and let us not grow weary of doing good. You know what that means is don't get tired. He was talking to, Paul was writing to the church in Galatia. Galatia was a region and they were tired. They're like, man, we're serving the Lord, we're doing things, but we're being persecuted and everybody's coming against us, our family's coming against us and they hate Christians and I lost my job and nobody wants to do business with me anymore
and everybody was feeling discouraged and Paul writes, he goes, man, let us not grow weary of doing good for induced season, we will reap if we don't give up. Look at that, induced season, we will reap. I'm throwing seed out, I'm throwing seed out, I don't see no vegetables. I come in the next day, wandering, watering it, I don't see nothing. I'm watering again, I'm watering again and all I see is weeds and I don't see nothing growing. So I pull the weeds, I pull the weeds, I water again, I don't see nothing and the farmer gives up and he never gets the vegetable. That's why he uses that verbiage for induced season. Oh, we're gonna reap, don't give up, don't give up on your kids, some of you have given up on your kids and your kids barely 16, my mom didn't give up, I got saved at 32, don't give up parent, don't give up grandparent, don't stop praying, don't stop pushing, sometimes you need to quit badgering them and start badgering heaven. I didn't even find out two years later that my mom would go and pray for our pillows and our shoes. Did you know that angel? You do now? I need to give her a key because I still need her pray for over my boots. Like mom, here's a front door key, go ahead, go for it. Pray for my pillow while I'm still on it.
Because we can't be discouraged, we gotta keep going and pushing and pushing and pushing through. Let us not grow weary of doing good for induced season, we will reap if we do not give up. Your weariness doesn't mean that God has abandoned you. You can keep on walking with him, even if today, it's only one step at a time. Sometimes we feel like crawling, if you gotta crawl and crawl, but keep pushing forward, keep seeking God, don't give up. Your whole family might be making fun of you, the whole family, your kids want nothing to do with God, everything that could go wrong is going wrong. induced season. We will reap if we do not give up. I don't know about you, but I'm holding that as a promise. I'm going to write that scripture, put it on my refrigerator. I'm going to put that scripture and put it on my car. Because I'm just like, man, sometimes I feel tired. Sometimes I don't know what to do, but I'm going to keep pushing. Tina? Amen. All right. It's an agreement. See, this is why I told you this God was preaching to me first because I don't want to preach. I'm just like, this is crazy. And you know, when you get in that rut, you start thinking all these negative thoughts that the enemy comes and puts in your head. I see the state of Christianity. I see what's happening. I see all this corruption. I see all these things and sometimes it seems like the politicians are corrupt and the church leaders are corrupt and the people don't know the Bible. And I go to church and I'm not even know if people are even listening. You see, the enemy starts throwing all this stuff. And the Lord's like, man, quick crime. Get up. Get up. Get up. And to the fallen believer. Oh, you have faith. You have faith, but you've fallen because of health. You've fallen because of your finances. You've fallen because maybe in your things in your marriage and you're working out so well, you've fallen because maybe your children or maybe even tragedy. And you're just like, man, I believe in the Lord, man, but I got a really bad report from the doctor. I don't know what to do with that. I don't know how to reconcile that in my mind. I don't know what to do with this.
You know, we understand that God is a healer. I have prayed for people and I see you. And two weeks later, I'm doing their funeral, but I prayed for them to be healed. I have prayed for people and I see you. The doctor said, why do you want to bother? Don't bother the pastor. I go in there. I declare life and that person's alive today. I've seen both. I remember one time we were called because this gentleman, he was using a saw and the safety thing wasn't on and he decided to cut wood anyways. And if you know those big saws, they jumped. It jumped flipped and hit his arm. He almost bled out. Went to the hospital. They called us in the middle of the night and we go over there, me and Sharon go over there. We go to the hospital. The whole family's there. The family's completely broken. They're telling the family to go say goodbye. Honestly, when I went there, I went to basically pray for this person to make it into heaven. I went in there with those intentions. I walked in there, saw the family basically was giving our condolences. And then they said, can you go and pray for him in the ICU? There's only two people out at a time, right? I'm like, yeah, I was already there just to be support for what was inevitable. I walked in the ICU, all these tubes, everything. I was going to say, oh, let's bow our heads and pray. And the Lord said, you speak life. You speak life. I'm like, Lord, speak life. He will speak life and go tell the family to get ready to celebrate. Do you know what that's like? To do that to a family? But I was obedient to God. I went in there, spoke life over him. In the name of Jesus, you will not die. You will live in the name of Jesus. Lord, I don't know what these doctors are saying, but you'd say the final word. In Jesus name, I pray for healing. Went out to the family. Family was all crying and didn't disarray. And I said, hey, guys, the Lord told me that he's going to live, so start rejoicing. Within a couple of weeks, he was home. There was a king Hezekiah. The prophet sent the prophet to speak to Hezekiah and he went to tell him he was going to tell King Hezekiah to get his things in order because he's about to die. The prophet went over there and told them the bad news. The Lord told me to tell you to get your stuff in order because you're going to die. And he walked away. The prophet walked away. Hezekiah turned his back against the wall and started crying out. to go right now. I'm not ready." And he just cried out. There was something about the way he cried out that in the middle, as a prophet was leaving the palace, the Lord said, "Stop." Yes, Lord. Go back and give Hezekiah these words. Because of the way you cried out to me, I will give you 15 more years. And King Hezekiah lived 15 more years. But you know
what? I'm going to say this, that we've got to understand that if we live, praise God, I can share the gospel. But if we are in Christ, if not, then I will be in the presence of the Lord. Regardless of how the situation happens, we still win. We still win. Finances, money comes and money goes. I have met miserable rich men and content poor men. I had a rich man one time tell me. Very, very rich. He says, "I will give you everything to have your remaining two years in prison. I will give it all to you, David." Because he had 32 years to do. He just started and he was in his late 60s. And he says, "My yachts, my businesses, my cars, my houses, and other countries heal me nothing in this place. I will give it all to you." To those in troubles in your marriage and your children, tragedy, financial illness, grief, uncertainty about the future. It can leave you feeling defeated. I'm not making small of it. I'm not making light of it. As a matter of fact, in Second Corinthians, chapter 489, I'll say this, I'm going to read it. Second Corinthians 489 says, "We are afflicted in every way." In every way, it seems like sometimes you're going to get in the barrage of attacks from all over the place. But Paul says, "But we're not crushed. We're perplexed, but we are not driven to despair. We're persecuted, but not forsaken, and struck down, but not destroyed." In other words, get up. You're not finished. Get up. You're not finished. Get up. You're not finished. You're just feeling discouraged. Okay. But get up. You're not finished. And sometimes it feels like you're attacked all over the place. You're attacked with your finances, attacked by your own children that don't even want to see. We're talked to you, attacked by all these things, all these things. You're just like, "We give up." We're afflicted in every way, but not crushed, perplexed, not driven to despair, and persecuted, but not forsaken, struck down, but I ain't destroyed. Oh man, you might have had me on my knees, but I ain't staying down here. You might have tripped me up, but I'm not staying down here. All these situations might have gotten me a little twisted up, a little messed up, but I ain't staying here. I'm not staying here. And we may not be able to change what happened. Sometimes we can't change what's happened. We can't change what's going on. And that's not what I'm talking about. Sometimes we're going through things, and we can't change those things, but we discover that Christ remains faithful in the middle of it. See, Jesus never said that life would be good. He says, "I'll be with you through your troubles. Though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
Lord, because you are with me." He doesn't say he'll take you out of the valley, but he says he's going to be with you. He'll be with you through it. You know, the disciples that were in the boat, the storm still came, but the boat didn't sink because Christ was in it. So getting up doesn't mean that your circumstances have changed. I'm not trying to say that. I'm not preaching that. I'm not saying get up. Everything's going to change. It might not change at all, but it means your circumstances no longer determine your place and your hope. We need to get up because we're not finished. We're not finished. So Micah, the prophet Micah, he lived there in Israel at a time when everything was falling apart. Nobody was serving God. Kings were corrupt. Judges didn't give justice. Prophets, men of God, were spiritually compromised. The people were serving idols and had forgotten about the Lord. The people that tried to live right, they were being taken advantage of. Everyone felt robbed and cheated and Micah was just tired of it. When you read the book of Micah, he's a frustrated man and you're just like, "Lord, why did you call me to prophet Israel at a time like this? Why did you call me to prophet in a time of David, in a time of Solomon?" But instead, you'd raise me up and I'd be honest. 2026 for when everybody is just forsaking the Lord? I remember at a time growing up in churches when people would actually get saved and really saved and everything would change. I remember seeing people come as drug addicts, alcoholics, and witchcraft and they would give their life to the Lord, surrender everything their life would change and nowadays it's like oh it's a process, God's working on me. I'm under construction, but Jesus is the same yesterday today forever. If he could change people then he could change people now. And I'm just like Lord you got me preaching to a stubborn world. What is this? And Micah was tired of it and here's the thing is that guys there's a difference between falling and being finished. There's a difference. Let me give you an example. Joseph was betrayed and in prison and he was raised to leadership in Egypt. Naomi lost her husband and her sons and brought restoration into her family by becoming the great-great-grandmother of King David and eventually the bloodline of Jesus. Peter denied Jesus three times but Jesus restored him and commissioned him to be a leader in the church. Paul was in prison and persecuted and yet we still read his letters today. Oh yeah they might have fell but they weren't finished you
know and it's like whatever it is that you're going through today. I don't know what it is. I have no idea at all, but it doesn't mean that God is finished with you. I don't know who I'm talking to but God is not finished with you. Some of you you have been praying, you've been believing, you've been trusting God and still nothing changes. You're still dealing with the sickness, you're still dealing with financial struggle, you're still dealing with your loss and things it just you're facing things that you thought you would never have to face. I get it but I want you to understand something that that just because the situation doesn't change doesn't mean God has abandoned you. God has not abandoned you, he hasn't forgotten you. See we forget promises. I might have told you that we're gonna have dinner and then I get busy and I forget. You know why? Because I'm human but God doesn't forget. It doesn't matter what transpires. It doesn't happen or situation in life. If God says something he keeps it and if he told you that he's gonna reach your family, guess what? He's gonna reach your family. Whatever it is, he doesn't forget. He doesn't forget. He doesn't abandon you. So getting back up doesn't mean all your problems suddenly disappear. It means you keep trusting Jesus in them even in the middle of it. And here's the good news right? The good news is that that your life is still in his hands and I know there's times where I feel I have felt like God where are you? Am I the only one that's ever felt like that? God where are you? Maybe some of you thought that this morning. Maybe you're thinking that right now. Lord I know you're real. I know you bless people. I know you do this. I know you do that but I don't really think you could do it for me or maybe you don't want to do it for me. There's still a future in Christ. Following Christ did not mean everything's going to be perfect. And you know and you and I don't we don't know what tomorrow holds. I don't know what tomorrow holds. I don't know. I don't know what the next few minutes holds. That's why we should never look at pastors or evangelists or we look unto the Lord the author and finisher of our faith. We look unto him. Don't look at me. I don't know. I'm following him. But I will confidently say follow me as I follow Christ. But ultimately he's the one that
knows all things. I don't know anything. I just know Christ and Christ crucified. That's it. I might not be able to have theology and Hebrew and Greek broken down. I don't know historical artifacts or all these things. I don't know those things just to I know He changed His lives. How do I know that? Because He did it for me. And that's it. But I know the one who holds tomorrow. So I just say lift up your head and put your eyes back on Jesus. If you've never given your life to the Lord, maybe consider today, if you do feel discouraged in the Lord, then I say, keep your eyes on Him and quit looking at the storm. Because the storms are never going to go away, guys. They're never going to go away. You know, I often have to remind myself and my wife, I'm just like, you know, if Jesus had a Judas, what makes us think you won't? And you were like, well, you know what, I'll get rid of the Judas. Well, guess what would happen? Another one will come. The storms don't stop. It keeps going. We keep going. We keep fighting through the battles. We keep fighting through the situations because it's not about getting out of the situations. It's about Christ being in the situation with us. And that's what's important. You know, as I'm finishing today's message, I want to, I want to share a little bit more about Micah. And Micah chapter seven, hopefully you're still there. We're going to read seven. Starting at two, because let's read the context of what we started off with verse eight, but let's read of what was happening before that. Micah chapter seven, verse two says this, "Listen,
I want you to see how Micah was feeling. He says, "The Godly has perished from the earth, and there is no one upright among mankind." You know what he's saying? He's saying, "Man, there ain't no more believers anymore. Nobody walks right, not the political leaders, not the spiritual leaders, nobody. He says, "They all lie and wait for blood, and each one hunts the other with a net. Their hands are on what is evil, to do it well." Listen to that verse, "Their hands on what is evil, to do that well." In other words, they want to do so bad that they're praying that they do it good. They want to do it well. The prince and the judge, they ask for a bribe, and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul. Thus, they weave it together. He says, "The best of them is like a brier. The most upright of them is a thorn hedge." You know what that is saying? It's saying, "Man, even the best of them are nothing but thorns." It's like going to pick flowers, and there's no flowers, just a bunch of thorns. So you pick the best of the thorns. And he says, "The day of your watchmen, of your punishment has come." Now their confusion is at hand. And it got to this point, look what Micah says. He says, "Put no trust in the neighbor. Have no confidence in a friend. Guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your arms." So at the time of Micah, he says, "You can't even trust the woman you're holding at night." He says, "That's how bad it was." And then he says, "For the son, treats the father with contempt.
The daughter rises up against her mother. The daughter-in-law, against her mother-in-law. A man's enemies are the men of his own house." Micah says, "Man, sons won't talk to their fathers. Daughters hate the mother. My own enemies live in my very house." The very people, I don't know who needs enemies when you got family sometimes, right? But then he switches, he changes. In verse 7, he says, "But ask for me." Say that. "Ask for me. I will look to the Lord." So even though all this situation, we need to learn from Micah. Micah's living in a divided nation. They're going at each other. Politicians are wicked and crooked. The church leaders are crooked. People don't know about God. looking everywhere and he feels like he's fallen and he feels like, you know, I just give up, I can't do this, I can't do this anymore. And the Lord says, put something in his heart where he says, "But Lord, you know what? I'll tell you what, as for me, I will look to you. As for me, I will look to the Lord. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me." And then it says the verse we started. He says, "Rejoice not over me, oh my enemy." You know what's awesome about that? Is the fact that Micah felt so attacked by everything around him, yet he comes to his senses and says, "Wait, I'm going to look unto the Lord. I'm going to look at his salvation because God is going to give me out of this because my whole life might be chaotic. My health might be chaotic. My finances, my marriage, my children, all these things might be chaotic, Lord. But I'm going to look unto you." And then he finds something within himself because once he starts looking at God and not at the storm around him, then he comes down and speaks to the enemy. He says, "Enemy, you're not going to rejoice over me. I might have fallen, but I'm going to get back up. I might have fallen, but I'm getting back up. Sometimes we're knocked down by
what others have done to us. Sometimes we're dealing with consequences and we've fallen because of our own actions and we can't change it. But verse 9, if we read that nice verse, he says, "I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against him." I want you to notice something. The whole book Micah's complaining about everybody else. As Christians, oh, we love complaining about everybody else. And then he takes his eyes off the storm and looks unto the Lord and says, "You're my salvation." Then he speaks to the enemy and says, "You know what? I might have fallen, but I'm getting back up." And then he realizes something in nine. He says, "I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against him." See, sometimes we need to quit looking at others and look in the mirror and say, "You know what, Lord? I've been complaining about this whole world, but the whole time, Lord, I'm not doing things right." And Micah internalizes it and he says, "I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against him until he pleads my cause and executes judgment for me and he will bring me out to the light and I shall look upon his vindication." He says, "You know what, Lord? I can't change the world." But you know what? I have messed up too. So I'm just going to sit here and wait for you to vindicate me because I can't change nobody else. It's about hoping the one who can reach down to you to lift you up again. See, this message is not about getting up and trying harder. That's not what this whole message is about because, let's be honest, sometimes we fall and we feel like we can't get up. But there's a prophecy that God gives to Micah. This is the scripture Micah is known for because all this complaining, all this turmoil, the nation falling apart, families falling apart, politicians falling apart, religious leaders falling apart, and the midst of all this. God tells something to Micah and he starts to prophesy and he says, "But you," and Micah chapter five verse two. And he says this, "But you, O Bethlehem." Who knows what Bethlehem? Who was born there? There's hope in the Book of Micah, but you, O Bethlehem, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah. "From you shall come forth from me, who is to be the ruler in Israel, who's coming forth is from of old from ancient days." So Micah is complaining, and God is not telling Micah, "Hey, get up, get up, get up." God is saying Micah, this whole nation's falling apart, the politicians are falling apart, the religious are falling apart, the people are following God, and you aren't going to fix it. But there is one that's coming in Bethlehem. There is one that's coming that's going to be born, and it's a little tiny place called
Modesto or wherever it is that you're from. And God said, "I'm about to do something special in that place." So he points him to Bethlehem. You're too little to be among the clans of Judah. "From you shall come forth from me, one who is to be the ruler in all of Israel, who's coming forth is from old from ancient days." then the rest of his brother shall return to the people of Israel, and he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God, and they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth, and he shall be their peace." This isn't about just getting back up on yourself. This is about knowing that Jesus is the one that's coming to make things right. He's the one that's coming to reign and to rule. He's the one that's coming to fix things. He's the one that's going to pick you up. He's the one that when you fall he can't you and pulls you back up. Church, let's all stand. "And as you're standing, I prophesy over you to get up. You're not finished. I speak that over your life. I speak that over your finances. I speak that over your children and your grandchildren. I speak that over our grandchildren and our children. I speak that over our health. I speak that over our ministry. I speak that over house of rest. I speak that over our city. The pouring of the Holy Spirit will be done in us first, not in anything else, but that we don't rely on ourselves. This isn't about ourselves getting up. This is about relying on the one that died on the cross. The one that rose again after three days. The one that has all power. The one that sits on the throne. The one has a name above all names. The one that his name all knee shall bow confess that he is Lord. The one that reigns supreme. There is nothing that can stand in his way. There is nothing that he can't reach. There is no deep place he can reach down to. There is no mountain too high for him. There is nobody too lost for him. There is nobody in addiction that he can't pull you out. There is nobody that he can't make sober. There is nobody that he can't heal. To the non-believer, today's the day of salvation right now, right now, right now, right now. And if that is you, if you're brave enough, I want you to come up to the altar. Don't wait for tomorrow. Tomorrow's not promised. Today's the day of salvation right now, right now,
right now. To the discouraged Christian and your sick and tired of it, I want you to come up too because you're not done. Get up. You're not finished. There's more. There's more. There's more. Don't be discouraged for those that you have fallen because of situations. I want you to come up. It ain't over yet, man. It ain't over. I want you to come up and say, enemy, I will not stay down. I will not stay down. I refuse to stay down. I will not be broken. If that is you, if you want to give your life to the Lord, reded a kid your life to the Lord, I want you to follow this prayer and we're going to go through this together and repeat after me and believe it in your heart and God would do a change in your life. Repeat after me and say, Lord God, I repent of all my sins. I believe you died on the cross. And after three days, you rose in power. I'm tired of being fallen. I need you to get me back up. Fulfill what you have for me. Starting now in Jesus' name. Amen, amen, amen. Let's give the Lord a hand. We're going to worship. We're going to spend some time with Lord, but don't leave because we're going to have communion. But we're going to open the altars for everybody. And I want you to just take this time to spend with your Savior, the one that died for you. [Music] Look at those lyrics. He knows your name. In Luke 22, starting at verse 19, it says He took the bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying this is my body, which is given for you, do this and remembrance of me So before we take it, Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus And we take this with a clean conscience, that we do this to remember you, that we never forget Of what you did on that cross for us, everything your body endured Taking it for us, because it was us that deserved it, but you did it for us Bless this, Lord, in Jesus' name, amen, let's eat the bread together Thank you, Lord, let's get the juice In verse 20, this is unlike wise, the cup after they had eaten, saying this cup that has poured out for you Is a new covenant in my blood This juice represents the blood that He shed for us This is the one thing He told us to do as a church to remember Him So let's bow our heads, Lord, we pray That as we drink this, Lord God, there'd be a constant reminder of your blood That was shed on that cross for us, Lord, you took it for us, you did it for us As we drink this together, Lord God, we believe in you, we believe who you are We believe you resurrected, we believe you are on your throne Declaring power because you reign We thank you, in Jesus' name, amen, let's drink together And just thank the Lord, thank you, Jesus, thank you, Lord, thank you Amen.
