He Never Sleeps: A Prayer from Psalm 121 | Evening Meditations

a quiet room to pray. Take one slow breath in and let it out. Tonight's Psalm is 121. It was sung by people walking a long road. Let it be read to you. I lift up my eyes to the mountains. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip. He who watches over you will not slumber." "Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord will keep you from all harm. He will watch over your life." "The Lord will watch over your coming and going, both now and forever more. Hear that again. He will not slumber. Tonight, when the lights go down and you finally close your eyes, someone stays awake. You don't have to keep watch over your own life tonight. You've been on guard all day. You can set that down. Say it quietly with me. He watches over me. He does not slumber. Coming and going. Again, you watch his over me. He does not slumber. Coming and going. Let's pray. Lord, you see the long night. You see the people I love on the outside. Watch over all of it while I rest. Amen. Rest when you can. You are not forgotten. Amen. .
